Egypt's First Woman of Aviation ~ Lotfia Elnadi

Mme. Lotfia Elnadi is Egypt's first woman pilot. Learn about this fascinating woman of history.

The Early Years
Born in Cairo, Egypt in 1907, she currently lives in Toronto, Canada. At 22 years of age she took to the skies with much perseverence, courage, and sheer ambition. She was the first in a land of seeming impossibility for a woman of her time. Convincing her mother and side-stepping the issue with her father, she was granted permission on the agreement that her parents would not be financially responsible for flight lessons. They did not want the responsibility should anything happen, God forbid. Automobiles were new enough, imagine an airplane!
